Cardinal Theodore E. McCarrick: More Concerned with “Comfort” than Christ?

The responsibilities of the Church and more specifically the bishops are to lead their flock. The responsibilities of the laity are to follow them. We follow them because they represent the will of Christ. Through apostolic succession they have taken the responsibilities of Shepard, through our baptism we take on the responsibilities of Christ's faithful. Neither one is easy -- both are necessary... and worth it. Sometimes we need help sorting things out. We pray for the Grace to do the right thing and be faithful to Christ and His Will.

"We know that anyone who is aware of having committed a grave sin may not receive Holy Communion, even if he or she experiences deep contrition, without having first received absolution in the Sacrament of Penance."
